Have you heard of them? No we have not- (our teacher says we will learn about them next week)
Do you know what they look like? No, we do not think so
What facts do you know about them? We have just begun to study them!
We have LOTS to share -- PICTURES too!! Why don't you add to our page and tell us what you know, and we will share back with you what we know! And then we can show you our AMAZINGpictures of our little friends!! Please show us pictures of meal worms! Do you have real ladybugs?Mrs. Trost's 1st graders here do! We'll get pictures soon!
Here are a few pictures of STAGE 1, STAGE 2, and STAGE 3 of the mealworm... The first stage of a mealworm's life is an egg. The egg is smaller than the egg picture shown here. The color of the egg is white but dusted with age.
The second stage of a mealworm's life is the larva stage, during this stage, it moves about by crawling and it also sheds it's skin several times and this process is known as moulting. They look weird when they do moulting and their old skin had ridges that look like scales. The third stage of a mealworm's life is the pupa stage. It iswhitein color. During this stage, same as the pupa of the butterflies, it sleeps and does not eat at all !
